About this tour

This action-packed tour of Egypt is ideally suited for families and children seeking an adventure-filled journey. It combines visits to the iconic Pyramids & Sphinx, the sprawling Egyptian Museum, and ancient Pharaonic temples & tombs with some thrilling adventures such as a fun camel ride and a cruise on a traditional felucca sailboat. Our expert guides are highly skilled and experienced in guiding families with children, and we keep our group sizes small to ensure you get the most out of what we are confident will be a once-in-a-lifetime vacation. Our adventure begins in Cairo with a tour of the iconic Pyramids and Sphinx. Then, we take the time to explore the extensive Egyptian Museum, with a particular focus on the famous Tutankhamun exhibition and the spooky mummy room. From Cairo, we climb aboard the sleeper train for an overnight journey along the Nile to the charming town of Aswan. Here, we visit the island temple of Philae, interact with local children at a nearby school, and savor a traditional Nubian meal. Our next adventure takes place aboard a traditional felucca sailboat as we glide along the Nile, observing local life unfold as we drift by. Upon arriving in Luxor, we venture into the crypts with a visit to the Pharaonic tombs in the Valley of the Kings. We also admire the monumental Temple of Karnak before returning to Cairo aboard the overnight sleeper train. Itinerary

Upon your arrival at Cairo airport, we'll greet and meet you before transferring you to your hotel. The remainder of the day is yours to settle into your accommodations and unwind after your journey. Alternatively, you may choose to venture out into the city and begin exploring. Overnight: Cairo hotel

We kick off our day with a visit to the magnificent Pyramids & Sphinx at Giza, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. While at the Pyramids, we'll enjoy a short camel ride, which is not only enjoyable for the entire family but also provides an excellent photo opportunity. Next, we'll head into downtown Cairo to explore the Egyptian Museum, home to a vast collection of ancient artifacts, mummies, and of course, the world-renowned Tutankhamun exhibit, complete with the iconic golden funerary mask. Later in the evening, we'll board the overnight sleeper train to Aswan (approximately 9 hours, with private twin cabins). Overnight: On board train Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

We'll arrive in Aswan around mid-morning, and the picturesque River Nile sets the scene for our first activity. We'll embark on a boat tour to the stunning island temple of Philae. This beautiful temple was relocated after the construction of Lake Nasser. During school term times, we'll make a stop at a nearby school where we can participate in a fun and informal English/Arabic language class, which we'll try to arrange with children of similar ages to your group. Later in the day, there will be an opportunity to savor a traditional Nubian meal. Overnight: Aswan hotel Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Early this morning, you'll have the option to take a tour to witness the sunrise at the awe-inspiring temples of Ramses II at Abu Simbel. These captivating temples were dismantled and reconstructed, stone by stone, to protect them from the rising waters of Lake Nasser. If you choose not to take the optional Abu Simbel tour, you'll have the morning free to explore Aswan's lively and exotic bazaar or perhaps relax at the hotel before we board our traditional felucca sailboat and embark on our journey down the Nile. We'll spend a fun night sleeping on the deck of the sailboat, well-cared for by our friendly Nubian crew. During the voyage, clean toilets and showers are available on board our support boat, which joins up with the felucca from time to time. (Alternatively, there is an option to upgrade to a night in the hotel instead of sleeping on the felucca). Overnight: On board felucca Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Following breakfast, we'll continue our leisurely sail down the Nile, taking in the stunning scenery along the way. Afterward, we'll drive to Luxor, where we'll check into our hotel, ideally located by the Nile. The remainder of the afternoon is yours to relax at the hotel or venture out into Luxor to explore the sights and sounds of this captivating town. Overnight: Luxor hotel Meals: Breakfast

Early this morning,( optional excursion ) there's an option to take a sunrise hot air balloon flight on the west bank of the Nile. Our sightseeing today will lead us to the west bank of the Nile, where we'll venture into the musty Pharaonic tombs in the Valley of the Kings and explore the unique temple dedicated to Queen Hatshepsut, where we'll uncover her intriguing story. In the afternoon, you'll have time to unwind at your hotel or perhaps explore Luxor town further. You might want to consider taking another felucca trip on the Nile to Banana Island or visit the fascinating Mummification Museum with its weird and wonderful exhibits. Overnight: Luxor hotel Meals: Breakfast

Today, we'll visit one of Egypt's most significant and impressive sites, the Karnak Temple, featuring vast temples, towering statues, sleek obelisks, and numerous columned halls. The rest of the afternoon is yours to spend as you please in Luxor before we transfer to the station to board the sleeper train back to Cairo (approximately 9 hours). If you prefer, there's an option to upgrade one or both train journeys to internal flights. Overnight: On board train Meals: Breakfast

Upon our return to Cairo, we'll embark on a brief tour to explore the city. We'll visit the old mosque and museum located at the Citadel, offering a magnificent view of the city.
