Our Egypt guided tour commences with a visit to the renowned Egyptian Museum, which houses an extensive collection of ancient Pharaonic exhibits, including the remarkable Tutankhamun exhibit. Accompanied by one of our knowledgeable local Egyptologist guides, you'll gain a wealth of insight and enthusiasm about Egyptian history and culture. Following our museum visit, we'll head to Giza on the outskirts of Cairo to explore the Sphinx and the three great pyramids of Egypt. The Great Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops), standing at 500 feet high and 750 feet wide at its base, is a magnificent man-made structure made of colossal stone blocks with a limestone casing. Over time, the casing has been removed, exposing the inner block structure. Along with the smaller pyramids of Khafre (Chephren) and Menkaure (Mycerinus), the awe-inspiring sight of these gigantic structures rising from the desert is a breathtaking spectacle. If you wish, you'll have the opportunity to climb down inside the pyramids, though your guide cannot accompany you. Please note that a limited number of tickets are available for the Great Pyramid. In the evening, we'll transfer to the station for the overnight sleeper train to Luxor, which will take approximately 9 hours. You'll enjoy dinner on board in your private twin-berth compartments. Overnight: On board sleeper train Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
We'll arrive in Luxor early this morning and cross the Nile to commence our tour of Luxor's West Bank. Our tour covers several of these Pharaonic tombs, as well as the impressive temple of Queen Hatshepsut, Deir el-Medina (the Valley of the Craftsmen), and the enormous Colossi of Memnon. After the morning tour, you'll have the afternoon free to relax and enjoy the facilities of your luxurious 5-star hotel on the banks of the Nile. In the evening, we'll visit the beautifully illuminated Luxor temple, located in the heart of the town. Overnight: Luxor 5-star hotel Meals: Breakfast
Today, you have a free morning to enjoy a well-deserved lie-in after yesterday's early start. After lunch, we'll embark on a tour of the vast temple complex at Karnak, once the religious center of Thebes and Upper Egypt. The complex was connected to Luxor via an extensive avenue lined with sphinxes, and to the Nile via a canal through which the sacred boats of the god Amun would pass. Upon entering through a smaller sphinx-lined avenue built by Ramesses II, you'll come across the immense pylon entrance. Inside the vast courtyard are three chapels dedicated to the gods Amun, Khous, and Mut. The impressive Hypostyle Hall features 134 towering columns, each adorned with scenes of gods and pharaohs, while hieroglyphic inscriptions decorate the walls. (optional excursion) As one of the highlights of this Egypt guided tour, you'll have the opportunity to experience a spectacular hot air balloon flight over the west bank of the Nile this morning. Expect an early start to catch the sunrise as the balloon ascends. Overnight: Luxor 5-star hotel Meals: Breakfast
